Leaves and Halloween

Fall is upon us and I thought Brooklyn might have fun helping me rake up the leaves. It's amazing how many leaves drop from these two trees. And they never come off all at once. It's like a 3 month thing trying to keep the leaves raked up so they don't go into the neighbors yard. They don't have any trees and I feel bad that they still get the leaves. Brooklyn and I had a lot of fun though!

Still a ways to go!

Brooklyn had so much fun at our ward trunk-or-treat! She was really good about saying trick or treat and saying thank you afterwards. We do think Melody got the swine flu here though :-(.

We still have some snow in our backyard and Brooklyn just loves it.

Brooklyn likes to dress up and dance. She also likes to wear these glasses whenever we will let her. Church, Costco, at night, there are no limits. She also likes us to call her "superstar" when she puts them on. I'm not sure where she got that!

Happy Birthday!

Today was Melody's birthday! Melody requested carrot cake from Paradise Bakery and it was so good! While I was singing Happy Birthday to her Brooklyn decided to chip right in. I got the camera out and tried to get her to sing it again. It's not quite as good as the first time but Mom still liked it. :-)

Neither Melody nor I consider ourselves artists but we sure had fun carving the pumpkin. We tried to get Brooklyn to help us clean out the inside but she wanted no part of it. She insisted on watching a movie instead.

We lit the candle and turned out the lights and Brooklyn started crying, "scary, scary!" This picture was taken just after we turned the lights back on, she's still pretty nervous. We took her to a Halloween store at the beginning of the month and they had a lot of cool Halloween stuff including a lot of moving and screaming Halloween things. She has been pretty leery of anything Halloween since then. It will be interesting to see how the ward trunk-or-treat goes!

Candy for Breakfast

This morning I made French toast for breakfast. I served it to Brooklyn with syrup and powdered sugar, like I like it. She scarfed it down and called it "candy." I laughed until I realized I couldn't think of much of a difference... oops! At least it was whole wheat bread!! =)

Rock Canyon

I took a hike through Rock Canyon today and wanted to share some of the pictures I took along the way. This first picture is from Google Earth. I made a red line on the map where I hiked.

This picture is actually what it looks like coming out of the canyon.

People do a lot of rock climbing in the canyon

Pictures just don't do justice sometimes

There are a few of these along the way. Although I think I would only drink out of this if I really needed to.

This is the backside of the mountains

Summer

We haven't posted any pictures in a while so I thought I would post some pics of the things we have been doing. We go swimming at least a few times a week and Brooklyn really likes it. She even enjoys going "night night" in the pool.

Brooklyn has also started to like sunglasses. We should probably get her some her size!

Summer has been great. Fresh fruit and ice cream. Brooklyn likes to eat both at the same time!

I had never hiked the Y before so I decided to! It was actually a lot of fun. I went early on a Wednesday morning thinking there wouldn't be a lot of people but I couldn't believe how many people there were. It must be a pretty popular place. The view is amazing!

The fourth of July was a lot of fun. Our apartment is in such a good place for freedom days and the fireworks. We watched the fireworks from Stadium of Fire right outside of our apartment. We also went to a park where there were tons of booths with food, crafts, entertainment and all kinds of stuff. This is the huge flag from stadium of fire.

Brooklyn had fun dancing

We found a great sandbox at the MTC. They have a huge volleyball pit that doubles for a great sand pit.

It's been a lot of fun going to Rock Canyon.

Brooklyn loves playing in the water

Huge Dandylions!

Brooklyn thought this building was a lot of fun. If you look close you can see us in there.

We passed these girls playing soccer and Brooklyn thought it was so cool. Anytime we pass anyone playing any kind of ball we have to stop and watch.

We took a trip to Ikea and Brooklyn loved it! She found a soccer ball like one we have at home and jumped right into bed!

I officially finished all of my classes last Saturday so I am set to graduate this August! It's been nice not having to think about homework or class but it's been hard to feel excited because I still do not have a job. I would really like to work in Human Resources so if anyone has any leads let me know!

We're having a baby!!

So we've known since March but just haven't posted it, I guess. My due date was November 21st, which meant I should have been 19 weeks and 4 days along for my ultrasound today. However, the baby measured more like 17 weeks and 5 days along. So they might change my due date to December 5th. They'll let me know next time. I'm okay with that. I wish they would have changed Brooklyn's due date because it was torture when she came 11 days "late." I bet my due date was just off. It also makes it less frustrating that I'm still feeling nauseated if I don't take Unisom before bed. I mean, I'm not as far along as I thought so it's not as abnormal to still be feeling sick.

I felt the baby moving really early. They say you feel a second baby earlier because you know what you're looking for, but I was feeling the baby move when (I thought) I was only 14-15 weeks! It turns out the placenta is attached to the back of my uterus. Brooklyn's was on the front so it acted as more of a barrier and I didn't feel it as well when she would kick me. So that's why I felt this baby so much earlier.

Everything looked perfect on the ultrasound. Because I wasn't quite as far along as they thought, the technician wasn't able to tell if the baby has a cleft palate or not. So I'll get another ultrasound in a few weeks to make sure that's okay. Anyway, without further delay...

It's a girl!!!

I was so surprised! I had wanted a girl, but had convinced myself that a little boy would be fun too so that I wouldn't be disappointed. I think I must have actually gotten excited about a boy because I was just a little bit sad when I heard it was a girl. But I think it will be great for Brooklyn to have a sister. I love having mine. And she can still use our pink stroller! =) Now the problem is coming up with a name. We had one for a boy, but are pretty much wide open for little girls. So any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I want it to mean something like Brooklyn's does. Or at least a middle name that means something. (Family, religion, etc.)

The first picture is of the baby looking right at us. She looks kind of scary because you can only see her bones. I like profile pictures much better, but we didn't get any of those this time. The second is her heartbeat and the third is the proof! =) We are so excited for another little girl in our family!!

P.S. Tawni, I'll race ya. =)
