More Quotes from the Brookler

In the last few days that the weather has been nice, we have been going on walks while Jason is at work. We've gone to the park, a local party store, the library, and McDonald's. Today Brooklyn got it in her head that she wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese. I told her we couldn't because Daddy had the car. She asked, "Can we go in the stroller?" Unfortunately, it's a long walk to Orem.

It's been stormy today with a period of hail that was pretty spooky. Brooklyn was rattled by the sound of the hail hitting the house. After it was over, she looked out the front door and said, "There's someone out there, Mom. He's gonna take me." What?!?! I don't know where she got that from. It scared ME!! I told her that nobody was going to take her and she would be with me forever. She said that was okay.

At library story time they assign the kids "homework." They are supposed to memorize a poem and come recite it the next week for a treat. I've always disregarded that because my kids are too young. Well yesterday Brooklyn saw the kids getting suckers and she really wanted one. I told her she had to say the poem (Little Boy Blue) to the lady. I said the poem to her about three times and she headed off to wait in line. There were a few other kids ahead of her and she watched them recite the poem. When it was her turn, she said "Little Boy Blue, come blow your trumpet." I thought it was adorable that she figured out that that's what a horn is! The librarian helped her with the rest, but she only had to say the first few words of each line and Brooklyn could usually finish it. What a little smartypants!!

Brooklyn sure knows how to get the attention she craves. Last night as she was getting tucked into bed she said, "Mom, I hurt my (pause as she thinks) um, leg." Me: "Oh, no!" Her: "Can you kiss it better?" I oblige. "Mom, now I need ice on it!" A hypochondriac in the making.

Whenever Brooklyn sees us take out a treat, she instantly becomes famished. Instead of just asking for some of what we have, she starts saying "Mom, I'm hungry... I'm so hungry, Mommy." If you ask her what she wants to eat she'll think real hard and then say, "Um... just some candy, little bit." She always asks for a "little bit" when she knows she's pushing her luck.

The other day I got a shirt out for Brooklyn that she had never worn before, so it still had the tags on it. She started freaking out before I put it on saying, "Mommy, the tag! The tag! You have to cut it off!" So I cut it off and put the shirt on her. Then, she picked up the tag, studied it, and said, "Nine million dollars." She must have really liked that shirt.
