Lehi STINKS today. It smells very strongly of manure outside. I got Brooklyn out of the car to walk into the grocery store and said, "Wow. It smells like... poop." She replied, "No, Mommy, I'm dry!"
Today at Walgreen's I asked the lady at the cosmetics counter if she had any extra coupons for Garnier products. She pulled out a stack of coupon pads and started going through them. One of them accidentally fell out of her hand and hit (lightly) Brooklyn in the face. Brooklyn was totally fine, maybe a little surprised, but the lady felt really bad and was going crazy with the apologies. Then she said, "Here, let me give you a little purse since I'm so sorry." She gave Brooklyn one of the little "free gift" makeup bags you get when you buy perfume. So Brooklyn was playing with that and at our next stop she proudly showed it to me again. I said, "Yeah, that lady was so nice to give you that little purse!" Brooklyn just scowled and said, "She bonked my nose."
The other day, Brooklyn and I were talking about family relationships like she's my daughter and Addy's sister, I'm their mommy, etc. Then I said, "Brooklyn, did you know Nana is my mommy?" She replied, "Yeah! And she's your best friend!"
Yesterday I was in the kitchen and Addy was taking a nap on my bed. When she woke up, she started crying. By the time I got back to my room, Brooklyn was already there trying to give Addy her binky. She turned to me and said, "She doesn't want it, Mommy. She just wants to be held."
In the store today, Brooklyn ran off to the bulk bins. I knew that was dangerous, so I was calling at her to come back. She wouldn't come. So I started going towards her and she quickly grabbed some candy and put it in her mouth. I said, "Brooklyn! You don't take candy from the store! That's stealing." She said, "I'm hungry, Mommy." I said, "Even when we're hungry, we don't take things that aren't ours." She just looked at me, shrugged, and said, "But I'm hungry." Oh boy...
