The Peanut went to the Doctor!

Today we took Brooklyn to her 2-week appointment with the pediatrician. She's always game for a little outing. She LOVES the car. Yesterday was my birthday and the three of us went out to lunch at Applebee's and then to SIX different stores looking for my birthday present and she was so good the entire time. If only she would be that way at home! (As a side note, I really wanted the Hoover Tempo vacuum cleaner recommended by Consumer Reports, but we couldn't find it anywhere. I know that's a boring present, but I'm boring! So it works.) Dr. Wise said that Brooklyn looks really good. And you know you can trust him because he is Wise! (Isn't that a great name for a pediatrician??) She is an even 9 lbs. and 21 1/4 inches long. She is in the 75th percentile for both weight and height. He told us her baby acne is a result of hormone sensitivity, which is normal. I guess she is reacting to my hormones from being breast-fed. The hormone sensitivity is also evidenced in some other "developments" on her little body, but I won't be more specific than that out of respect for Brooklyn. Let's just say, the doctor says a lot of fathers get rather upset when the same thing happens to baby boys. =) The only thing I found worrisome is that, although her weight and her height are both at the 75th percentile, her head measurement was at the 50th. Do you think that has anything to do with brain size? She seems to be a pretty smart little girl. The doctor said she is even smiling and reacting earlier than most babies. So, hopefully she's just got a little head. They had to poke her heel for a PKU test and she didn't like that very much. But, everything was fine as soon as we got her back into her beloved car. Here she is in her car seat after the appointment:

What a cutie! Those appointments and errands are so much easier with a sleeping baby!
