What a Watermelon!
This summer, Jason and I had our first shot at growing a garden. Admittedly, he did most of the work, but we both got to enjoy the fruits of our labors! We had a few kinds of peppers, some green beans, tons of gigantic zucchini, cucumbers, butternut squash, swiss chard, herbs, raspberries, grapes, a jillion tomatoes, and...
...a WATERMELON!!! I have no idea why this was the most exciting harvest of the year, but it was. I think it's because we were thoroughly convinced that the plant was dead for a good two weeks or so. But then, one day - it resurrected! It had a bunch of leaves on it and then it started growing a baby melon. It only made one melon, and it wasn't very big, but it was very tasty and we are very proud. Now if only we could figure out how to harvest the other "fruit" we have sown... Brooklyn! Still no baby...

My melons all rotted on the vine. I need lessons.
