Stuck up and Checked out

Brooklyn will be 4 months old on Tuesday. I can't believe the time has gone by so fast. Anyway, she went to the doctor yesterday for her checkup and everything looks GREAT!! She weighs 13 lbs. 13 oz (50th percentile), is 25 inches tall (75th percentile), and her head measures 40.5 cm (45th percentile). Dr. Wise showed me the charts where he has been tracking her growth and she is following right along the line for perfect progression. Yeah! He also looked in her mouth and told me that she is teething on her bottom gums. That's probably why she has been drooling and chewing on her fists so much. I can't believe she is getting teeth already! But I know babies can teethe for a few months before the teeth actually come through, so maybe we've still got a while before she gets so grown up. Dr. Wise asked me if Brooklyn has shown any interest in solid foods. She TOTALLY has. She always grabs for our utensils and opens her mouth towards our food at mealtimes. This could have something to do with the fact that I let her taste my chocolate pudding the other day. I've created a monster. The doctor says if she's interested I should start giving her some rice cereal but she seems so young to me still. I think I'll hold off for at least a few weeks more. And no more pudding! Here is a picture of me and Brooklyn heading off the the doctor's:

I think her expression is so funny. Absolutely incredulous!

Here she is chewing on her fists all ready to be weighed.

We had to wait a while after she was weighed for the doctor to come in. She was supposed to stay in just a diaper so I held her close in a pink fuzzy blanket. So cozy!

She loves this little bear, it's got a great rattle in it.
She especially likes to grab him and bite his head.

I was going to get an "after" picture of her too but I just couldn't bring myself to do it when she was in so much pain. She got 3 immunization shots in her little legs. I would hate to be the nurse that does that. She came in and Brooklyn was all smiles and flirting with her. Then she started sticking needles in her legs and Brooklyn just gave this look like, "Are you serious?! I was so nice to you!!!" And she cried and cried. It was tough getting her dressed after that since she hates getting dressed even under normal circumstances. She fell asleep on the way home and stayed asleep for an hour or so once we got home. Thank goodness for that. After she woke up I gave her some Tylenol and she's back to normal this morning. We're so glad she's healthy!

She is getting so big. I hate how they have to stay naked, waiting for the Doctor! It's so cold in those rooms!

Lucy is teething too! I think that she might be getting 2 molars and 2 of her top teeth at the same time.

What a cutie! It is totally up to you when you want to start feeding them solids, so if you want to wait, then I would. I feed Brandon a small bowl of rice cereal about 4 days out of the week. He is almost 6 months. Also, just for comfort, for some reason the more children you have, the less they cry when they get a shot. :-) I don't know why that is, but it gets better from here. It doesn't bother me in the slightest when Brandon gets immunized, but I didn't really appreciate it with Steven.
